The following commands can be used to enhance your chat experience. It may be useful to print this list out.
/nick <newnickname>
Allows you to change your nickname.
/msg <nickname> <message>
ie. '/msg seb how are you doing?' would result in the person with the nickname seb getting the private message 'how are you doing?' from you.
Send a private message to someone.
/query <nickname>
Opens a private message window to someone.
/me <action> or /action <action>
Allow you to describe an action in chat. ie. '/me dances around' would display 'nickname dances around'.
/whois <nickname>
Find out information on a particular person currently in the chat room. This command can also be used to see if some is in /away mode.
/away <message>
ie. '/away I'm away getting food' would display 'nickname I'm away getting food'.
When you're away from the chat room use this command to let people that /msg or /whois your nickname that you are away from your computer.
/away
When you return to your computer use this command to turn off youe initial /away message.
/ns info <nickname>
Find out information on a particular registered nickname.
/away [<away-message>]
/join #<room name>
ie. '/join #the-green-room'
Move to another chat room.
/leave #<room name>
ie. '/leave #the-green-room"
Leave a particular chat room
/time
Find out the current time (EST). It's set to an atomic clock. Wow.
